While researching other training/learning/mentoring programs that may use a similar formula as ours, I found an interesting article about a group of high school students getting paid to attend classes at Northwestern Connecticut Community College.
The program, called Foundations, federally initiated and funded by the Department of Labor, was met with outstanding success. I think it is a great idea to bring back students to school with motivation.
It just made me realize it would be a terrific addition to my Free School project (free as freedom and as free beer). No sorry there won’t be any beer available there. Aimed at offering dropouts and outcasts a nice way to improve their chances of success in life, it is close to my heart, but it is another project.
